The museum building - formerly known as Zülfaris Synagogue - was restored and remodeled as a museum dedicated to the traditions and history of Turkish Jewry. Enjoy a walking tour in Galata District along streets full of color and energy. Get a different perspective on the city and the Bosphorus from the nearly 200-foot-tall Galata Tower - built in the 14th century - with its spectacular views of the city. Cross to the Western shore of the Golden Horn to take a stroll through the atmospheric old streets in the Jewish quarter of Balat - where many Jewish immigrants settled to help repopulate the city under Sultan Beyazit II. Today the Star of David can be seen on the facades of some buildings.
Christian Heritage (Full Day) 3 $190 $370
Stroll alongside the beautiful Golden Horn - a perfect introduction to the splendors of Christendom that crown Istanbul’s cityscape. Visit the The Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople - once one of the fourteen autocephalous churches within the communion of Orthodox Christianity. See the great Walls of Constantinople - still standing strong - as well as the Golden Gate-the famed entrance to the Yedikule Fortress - gateway to the heart of Byzantium. Within these walls - visit the Little Hagia Sophia - an Eastern Othodox church - thus named because it may have served as a model for the Hagia Sophia. After that visit - we will enjoy delicious Turkish cuisine before heading on to the Galata Tower - a 14th century medieval stone tower built by the Genoese that dominates the skyline of Beyoglu - affording sweeping views of the Old City - Golden Horn - Bosphorus and the Sea of Mamara from its parapet.
