Day Destination Experience
1 Vienna

Upon arrival at the Vienna Airport, you will be met and transferred to our hotel, The Sacher Wien for a 3 night stay.  The balance of the day is yours to unwind, meet your fellow travelers and explore Vienna.

2 Vienna

After breakfast at the hotel, we depart on a tour of Imperial Vienna. Highlights of our tour include the Hofburg Palace; former home to the Austrian royal family (Maria-Theresa, Marie Antoinette and Franz Joseph just to name a few) and today seat of the Austrian President, the Sisi Museum;  located in the Imperial Apartments of cult figure Empress Elisabeth, complete with personal items and artworks, 12th century St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the former summer residence of the Hapsburg dynasty, Schonbrunn Palace.

3 Vienna

Today we are off on an exciting excursion missed by most visitors to Vienna, Klosterneuburg Abbey. Located just outside the city center, the over 900 year-old Klosterneuburg Monastery is a unique combination of monastery, museum, art gallery and vineyard. Home to one of the most important sacred works of art the “Verdun Alter” and the Archducal Crown the monastery offers an impressive insight into the magnificent Baroque style.  Our tour will include the church with its awe inspiring frescos, a look at the Verdun Altar and rooms used by royals and then Napoleon.  After our tour, we descend to the wine cellar for a private tasting, followed by free time to explore the grounds and have lunch on your own.

4 Vienna / Salzburg

A sip of champagne before we depart Vienna for Salzburg! Salzburg, the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, is dominated by churches, castles and palaces and its picturesque old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. No visit to Salzburg would be complete without visiting the places made famous in the timeless movie, “The Sound of Music.”

5 Salzburg

A full day excursion awaits as we head to the Lake District & Hallstatt. And yes, part of the day includes stops at the locations made famous in The Sound of Music! We begin our day with a sightseeing tour of the city and its surroundings based on the acclaimed musical, The Sound of Music. Take in the breathtaking scenery as our guide shows you the highlights of the film and the historical and architectural landmarks of the city, as well as a part of the picturesque Lake District: Mirabell Gardens, Leopoldskron Castle, Nonnberg Abbey. We will then continue our drive to Mondsee with a visit to the Parish Church of Mondsee (we know it as “The Sound of Music Church”) where we can walk the aisle made famous during the wedding scene! After time enjoying gorgeous views we head to the Salkzammergut / Lake District where we will stop close to St. Gilgen for time for lunch on your own. We continue the drive to the unforgettable lakeside town of St. Wolfgang on Lake Wolfgangsee to spend the afternoon visiting the Christmas Markets at Lake Wolfgang – for years known only to insiders.
